Monday’s work

 Weekly IXL skills:  set aside about 10 minutes every night to work on skills.

Math:  A.7 (review place value) and A.3 (review the value of a digit)

ELA:  H.3 (draw inference) and T.4 (review subordinating conjunctions)

Tonight’s Homework:

Vocabulary: review for Unit 2 vocabulary test.  Visit sadlierconnect.com (enter school zip code, 38134; then scroll down and click on St. Ann) log in information and password is located in your child’s homework folder.  Click on Unit 2 and click on practice quiz.  Also you can review flash cards.

Math:  Estimate to subtract, workbook p. 34, 1-17 odd.  Estimate to the greatest place value and find the difference.

Mr. Maranise came by to teach us about the Holy Feast of the Cross and to bless our class. Mr. Maranise is  the middle school religion teacher and he is a board certified chaplain and spiritual theologian.

OWL MOON:  we wrapped up our book study of Owl Moon.  We explored figurative language, theme, and freestyle poetry. Each student created an owl and a poem for our class collage.

 Reading: read and record (read for at least 20 minutes) 

IXL:  work in IXL for about 10 minutes; Math B.1 and/or ELA AA.1

Grammar:  create compound sentences, #’s 6-10

Science:  Symmetry in Nature Project, due Wednesday 9/16.  Find and cut out pictures of plants and animals that have symmetry.  Make a poster (use 1/2 size poster board), showing how many lines of symmetry each has. Work is to be neat, work is to have a title, and work is to have several examples.

See directions and student sample below. *Grading rubric is being sent home today.
