End of Year
Rising 5th grade summer work was sent home today- see the copy below. Mrs. Metaxes will also post a copy of summer work on her blog(found on the St. Ann website).
Dear 4 th grade Parents and Students,
In consideration of a wonderful new year in 5 th grade next year, below you
will find work needing to be completed over the summer. Please complete
all work as a prerequisite to 5 th grade. Hopefully this will help your child
retain information already learned and help to make a smooth transition
into 5 th grade math and language arts.
The following is to be completed in IXL in 5 th grade level with a 100% score
during the summer:
Math – A.1, C.18, D.1, D.3, K.5
Language Arts – AA.1, BB.1, CC.1, DD.1, LL.1
They are encouraged to work on other sections if they so choose. The
students are greatly encouraged to review their multiplication tables until
they know them and can answer them quickly.
In addition to the IXL work the students are required to read one book.
They may choose from:
The Magician’s Nephew by C. S. Lewis
Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O’Brien
Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell
Restart by Gordon Korman
Encourage them to take notes on the book especially regarding characters,
setting, problem, solution. They should be prepared to discuss and be
tested on one of these books shortly after school starts.
I wish you and your family a safe and happy summer vacation.
Sincerely,
LaDonna Metaxas
Tomorrow is a 1/2 day, pick up is at 11:30. All school 8:15 a.m Mass with awards to follow.
